Addresses
Go to the Mail Services website for more information or to look up campus addresses.
Abbreviations
In general, you may abbreviate only with a numbered address. Spell out when part of a formal street or building name without a number. Do not use periods with address abbreviations in address blocks.
- 503 Thompson St but Thompson Street
- 3025 Fleming Bldg but Fleming Administration Building
Avoid abbreviations in running text, but if used, accompany them with the proper punctuation.
Address Format
Use the standard format for all official correspondence, business cards, and publications:

Example |
The last two address lines should always be the street address followed by city, state, and ZIP + 4.
Campus Mail
For internal campus mail ONLY, one may use building abbreviations and forgo the city, state, and ZIP + 4 information. Include the recipient’s name, building/department and room number, the street address, and the four-digit campus code. (Note that the campus code corresponds to the + 4 portion of the USPS ZIP code.) For example:
John Smith
1100 LSA
500 S State St
1382
Include the words “Campus Mail” in the upper-right-hand corner of materials such as self-mailers or booklets. Materials that should not be sent through campus mail include stapled items, currency, library books, personal items, and office supplies.
