PUBLIC AFFAIRS & MEDIA RELATIONS manages emerging public issues and crisis communications, and responds to media inquiries involving U-M administration. They can also help you identify, analyze, and manage complicated issues and develop strategies to ensure that the right messages are communicated to the right audiences both internally and externally.

FILM PRODUCTION has been busy this year thanks to the state's new tax incentive program, which has helped fuel the growth of commercial filming in Michigan. The Film Office works with production companies to scout locations and make necessary arrangements, and also helps students and faculty secure locations for academic productions.

MICHIGAN PUBLIC MEDIA comprises radio, TV, and video services for campus communicators. The organization includes Michigan Radio, an NPR news station; Michigan Productions, which offers full-service studio and on-location video production services; and The Michigan Channel, the University's cable channel (seen locally on Comcast channel 22).

NEWS SERVICE works to enhance the reputation and visibility of the U-M. They work with units across campus to publicize research findings and other news of interest, and promotes faculty experts on important topics in the news. The office also produces podcasts and videos of experts, events, and programs, and uses social media-including facebook, twitter, and youtube-to help spread the news.

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION (FOIA) handles requests for information in compliance with the state's Freedom of Information Act, which mandates that the public has the right to inspect and/or receive copies of public records maintained by the University.
